    Hi to all. We have some good news. The increase in limit of family-based visas from 7% to 15% for each country was approved by the US Congress. The approved house bill will now go to the Senate for a vote. Yay! Let’s all hope and pray for the best.

    @bek
    Good for oversubscribed countries only. They should have increased the total quota for FB cases too.

  5. bek
    December 2nd, 2011 at 07:21 | #5

    @Lynn Yes, it would have been best if the quota was increased. Nevertheless, for most who come from oversubscribed countries with an outrageously long waiting time, it offers some relief; but it has yet to become a law.

    Lynn :@bek Good for oversubscribed countries only. They should have increased the total quota for FB cases too.

    For Chirist sake,does it mean a disaster to the rest countries except the overscribed countries?Will the “worldwide bulletin” even longer???????????????Somebody weigh in your thoughts,please!

  7. December 2nd, 2011 at 17:14 | #7

    @MGC
    dear its true that it will be disaster for rest of the countries except oversubscribed countries…..because more visas will be issued o maxico and philipines at the cost of other countries…..bcaz hr 3012 is not intended to increase quota for fb categories…..

    Dear friends,
    Let’s forget about fake or real GR.
    If real GR wants to be here again and to keep predicting, he/she’d better chose another name for himself/herself.
    I don’t trust to any GR anymore.

    hi .bek the news which you broke out regarding increase of quota from7%to15% is good one although it is still to become a law.IT MEANS that f4 having aquota of 7% containing of 65000 visas it will become more than 130000 visas in financial year.But this is we have to see that whether it is applicable to the worldwide countries or phlippine and mexico it needs clarificaion .Will any body offer his/her comments. Thanks

    December 7th, 2011 at 05:51 | #27

    @bek

    The bill you’re referring to (HR 3012) is about High-Skilled Immigrants, not family-based immigrants.

    For more information, see:
    “H.R. 3012 – Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act of 2011″ :

    Both you and bek are correct. The per country limit on Employment-Based visas will be eliminated (the bill would phase out the 7% country quotas over the next 3 years. ), while the per country limit on Family-Based visas will be increased from 7% to 15%.

    However this bill is still in the Senate and some senators are opposing it. Let’s just wait and see.

    hello guys, just want to tell you that two people from China with the PD of Aug 15 have received their interview letters.

  30. Frozen Mind
    December 7th, 2011 at 11:16 | #30

    @bek

    Please accept my apology, you’re right. This bill is about family-based immigration as well.

  31. bek
    December 7th, 2011 at 16:40 | #31

    @Frozen Mind No problem. The bill is particularly aimed at removing the limit cap for employment based applicants and make it “first come first served,” meaning the country of origin will not matter anymore. As for family based, I’m not sure where they will get the additional 8% since the visa allotment will not increase. I guess they will get it from unused visas from other countries. But then again, it has yet to become a law and the senate may make some amendments. Let’s wait and hope for the best.

  32. bek
    December 8th, 2011 at 02:00 | #32

    The bill wants to equalize the waiting time for the employment-based category (EB). In its three-year phase-in period, the two oversubscribed countries in the EB category(China and India)will get 85 to 90% of the visa allotment for EB. The goal is that at 2015, all countries in the EB category will have the same waiting times and the “first come first served”policy takes effect. For the family based, I have not read clear explanations from other sites on where the additional 8% will come from since the total annual visa allotment (220K +) will not increase. I’m guessing that it will come from unused visas.

    Thank you for your good news! The gist of it is that finally the F4 will move on for more than 1 month!!!

    December 9th, 2011 at 09:30 | #39

    We should pray that this bill dies in the senate. Because it will slow down the Pd movement for worldwide countrries. The reason is that Philipines and mexico will get 15% instead of 7% quota .

    I’m a little bit disappointed.Where the hell is that “one month per month” theory from?Does Mr Oppenheim decide no matter how many applicants actually are,each month should ony forward one month.Then no prediction is need thereafter.
