    Please be aware of the following notice issued in the bulletin for May 2010 “Family-sponsored: During the past fifteen months, the level of demand for numbers in the Family-sponsored preference categories has been very low. As a result, the cut-off dates for most Family preference categories have been advancing at a very rapid pace, in an attempt to generate demand so that the annual numerical limits may be fully utilized. If demand for numbers should begin to materialize cut-off date movements may begin to slow or stop.”

    To All Friends Who Are Waiting for the Process to End Soon:

    I just received some emails from friends on this forum asking about my status. I had my interview on Jan. 27, 2010 which is Four Months and Eight Days from now. Everything was perfect on the interview. I was only required to go through the Clearance part. I have still received no answer. This process varies from person to person and there is no specified order which you can predict. There are people who get answer in the first week and there are people who wait for a year. I have seen both. And there are some people who are not required to go through this process. Sorry that I do not follow you on this forum since 4 months ago. The reason is that I am totally out of patience and every single piece of patience I had, has been spent during the past 10 years that I have been waiting. Anyways, if you have any specific question, I will try to answer.

    Thats very good to hear.

    Im glad the site is back, seems like it always runs out of bandwith.

    Any predictions with the F4 category?
    Remember that april of 01 was the deadline of the 245i rule. Think that will have an effect on the bulletin?

    @RallyG
    Great news! Sorry to hear abt the police certificate…I applied for mine on June 1, good thing I deided on the regular (30 day) service, rather than the express (3 day), otherwise the same thing would have happened to me…I collected mine on June 14, and sent off my civil documents to NVC the following day…hopefully my dad sends the AOS soon, so I can get an interview date.

    Rally…did you have to take an original police certificate to the interview as well?

  18. Sweets
    July 1st, 2010 at 19:43 | #18

    @ RallyG…Correction…collected on June 16 and sent off on the 17…

    July 1st, 2010 at 21:01 | #19

    @Sweets
    No. you don’t have to take original. As long as the Visa center has it you are good. When you get the interview letter it will tell you exactly what to take along with you. The usual documents are passport, medical package, pictures and interview letter (page 1)

    @sarah
    Dear Sara, don’t be worry. That would be enough to bring the sweet baby and her birth certificate to interview.
    On the website of the US Embassy in Ankara has written to Iranian applicants: “Family members who are not already part of one file are encouraged to come for their interviews at the same time”.
    I think that means it is possible for anybody other than Iranians also to add at the interview any family member who’s name hasn’t been included to main applicants case.

    Follow this link: http://turkey.usembassy.gov/iranian_applicants.html

  46. Emet
    July 3rd, 2010 at 20:45 | #46

    Renzom,

    245i applies to all categories of people (family and employment based). So, there is no need to be pessimistic about just F4 or any other category alone. Also, since a person has to be present in the US on or before December 21, 2000, you can not assume all or most petitions were made around April. Some people, I would assume, had petitions dated earlier than that which means they must have visas available to them and still the VB was moving fast in the last few months.

    So, I think there is room for optimism

    =======================================================================
    The New 245(i) Amendment allows some aliens who are out of status, who entered the U.S. without inspection, or who have violated the terms of their non-immigrant visa to apply for adjustment of status after their immigration petitions are approved. To be eligible to take advantage of 245(i), the person must meet the following requirements:

    1. Physically present in the United States on December 21, 2000;
    2. An immigration petition or a labor certificate application is filed for the benefit of the Alien on or before April 30, 2001;
    3. The immigration petition or the labor certification application must be approvable at the time of filing. (It means that the application is good on its face); and
    4. Paying a $1,000 penalty at the time of filing I-485.
