    My dad petioned for 2, myself and my sister, but my sister’s case is a little delayed because she had a child subsequent to the petition. Question: Should my dad wait on my sister’s case and just make one payment for both of us, or should he just go ahead and take the necessary actions (affidavit of support, IV fee,etc…) on my account?

    Anyone on here from Jamaica who already got their IV…I want to know what documents to submit to the NVC, and what documents I will need to take to the Embassy here in Jamaica with me? I am F1 PD 08 Mar 2004. Thanks.

    I have a question on affidavit of support form. My mother does not qualify to sponsor us all by herself so a joint sponsor will have to come in to the picture. The question I have is that does she fill out an I-864 by herself and the sponsor fills out another I-864 form or they both fill out one I-864 form.
    I have looked at the form and my take is that they need to fill out 2 separate I-864 forms and need to supply only one copy each since there is only one I-130 form for all of us.

    Your input is appreciated.

    Hi mt2664
    If the petitioner and the joint sponsor live different address they both must fill I864 for each. If not, the joint sponsor will fill form I864A.

    @mt2644
    Dear MT2644, you will need two I-864s to be filled separately.

  26. Pooyan
    December 2nd, 2009 at 07:13 | #26

    Dear MT2644, I do not mean two I-864, but two forms. Possibly the joint one must fill out I-864A.

    December 2nd, 2009 at 07:20 | #27

    @Pankaj
    Pankaj, I’m quite SHOCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKED that you received it. I am really happy for you. Congratulations. My God. Unbelievable. I have called NVC a thousand times and they always tell me that they schedule appointment on the second weeks of each month, so that if a second week of a month passes and you do not receive an appointment letter, it would mean that you will have to wait for another month. But you have received it at the end of the month. This is quite strange for me. But anyhow, I’m very happy for you. My PD is Feb. 16, 2001. My case is completed in terms of document processing. It is now two months that I am waiting for the interview letter. I have not received it yet. I’m hopeful to get it this month. Be in touch PANKAJ.

    Hello Pooyan,
    I am sure you will get your visa appointment soon. Affidavit of support is the most confusing part of this process and I am not exactly sure how it is done yet in my case.

    Hi sweet,
    After you pay IV payment, you are done with NVC . You should wait until they contact you from the consouler office in your countery to start the process of immigration and interview.

    Good luck .

    @Sam
    The Customer Service Rep told me to submit my civil documents. Also, based on my understanding from what I read on USCIS website I should send off these documents to NVC and keep copies to take to the interview…now I am really confused…Help, as I dont want to delay my case any more than is necessary.

    December 2nd, 2009 at 20:13 | #45

    @Sweets
    My cases is completed and now I am preparing the applications for adjustment . You should follow the instrucion of NVC , don’t do any thing until they required that thing. you should keep calling the automatic voice mail of the NVC every couple days to know the progress of your case. IF you have email, they will contact you directly through the email then they send the instruction again by mail. So I think the email and calling is one week faster than the ordinal mail box .

    Hello Everybody,
    Nice to be back again in this forum, I am going to tell you about my interview date which went on very fast and easy. we were there just for one and half hour and saw two different officials. The first one, got our fingerprints and asked us to wait a bit and the second one asked very normal questions and then did the fingerprints again and asked us to raise our right hands and swear that everything in the forms are correct, and then she asked us when are we going to go and then she said just wait for 3 to 5 days to received your passports with the visa and the package!!! after a few days the packages arrived with our immigrant visas. the best part was my son’s visa!! at last he could get it!! even though he is now 21 years and 5 months. In his visa they mentioned that they consided the child status act for him.
    I couldn’t close my eyes the night before the interview even for one minute, I was just thinking what they are going to ask and what will happen. Now everything went well. they didn’t even mention my son’s age, just they gave him one form to sign that if he gets married before getting the greencard, he can not get it , and he signed another form for 18 to 26 years old people about military need. if there is a war, I think he has to take part!! and upon arriving the USA he has to register for that . I hope there is no need for these kinds of things.
    I had loads of thing with me to the embassy just if they need them, like bank statements, house mortgage, education certificate, photos, and lots more, but none we used. she asked me how my parents went there, what we are going to do as a job there and in which state we are going to live. they even didn’t ask about my parents job.
    The visa will be valid for six months,and we all have to travel together for the first time, so we are thinking about going there for March!! I can’t believe it. after 9 years. I hope everything goes well for all of you here . I consider you all as my good friends. Thanks for the encouragements before and good luck to all of you.
    Rose
