September 2008 Visa Bulletin // Comments and Discussion

August 13th, 2008

The Visa Bulletin for September 2008 was released earlier today – screenshots are posted below.

Also, the September Visa Bulletin noted the following:

VISA AVAILABILITY FOR OCTOBER

The Mexico F2A and Employment Third preference cut-off dates are “unavailable” for both August and September, since those FY-2008 annual limits have been reached. The Visa Office had originally anticipated that this would be a temporary situation. Then with the start of the new fiscal year in October the cut-off dates would have returned to those which had applied during June. However, continued heavy demand in those categories may require the establishment of cut-off dates which are earlier than those which had applied in June. A formal decision determination of the October cut-off dates will not be possible until early September. (emphasis added by me)

Hello all. F3 Category has gone ahead for only a WEEK. This is at least better than STOPPING, but I’m very disappointed, because all the people were saying that the long delay had been due to visa number limit they have and that in OCTOBER bulletin, it will go smoothly. But now that it has moved ahead it means that they have not had visa limit and we can not expect better movements in Oct. bulletin, taking into consideration that F3 category is the WORST as I’m seeing these days. All other categories have moved much better than that. Please post some views to see what the hell is happening regarding this category?

hi everyone; i do agree with pb and has same temptation and thought what he had express SAYING most disastress category F-3 is; and for god sake i would”nt had filed in this particular category. But let me give you my view over this category that they are planning to make F-3 and F-4 both to be processed together in a near future time;and that what it looks like. The year 97 and 98 being processed in four year time but 99 took only 6 month time to process;and that seems to be miracle ‘when even past year this never being happen.so guys put your finger cross; because there seems to be F-3 may move without any month being repeated.MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU AND GOOD LUCK

Hi, new to this. Could somebody tell me how to read the chart?

I am a citizen and want to petition my adult unmarried child in the Philippines.

Is that catoagory “1ST (F1)” and if it is, does that mean that “01APR93? is the date they are currently processing and if I petitioned today it would take approx 15 years for my child to obtain a visa?

    Thanks!

    Hi

    One question

    1. My I-140 is approved unders EB2 Category recently.

If I have to resign the current company and go to a different company, I heard that I can use the Labor Priority date, and port the I-140.

If it is true, then should I work in the current company for any number of days?

    Thanks

    Harsha,

Based on my experince, since your PD is in oct 2007, I think it will take 4 – 5 months for you to file 485. This all depends on the october 2008 visa bulletin. So hope for the best . Good luck, Raj

    Missy,

I am on the same boat as you are Eb3, but my priority date is Dec,05.

    I found this explanation:

    “Employment-Based, Third Preference (EB3)
This category became unavailable in July 2008 for all countries of chargeability. This means that no more numbers will be available for the remainder of FY2008. The September Visa Bulletin indicates an expectation that the cutoff dates in EB3 will be reestablished in the October 2008 Visa Bulletin (which begins the FY2009), with the dates that had been available in June 2008. Due to ongoing heavy demand for the EB3 visa numbers, however, the date may have to be pushed back further than its previous cutoff. The expected cutoff date in EB3 category in the October Visa Bulletin cannot be determined at this time, and it is unclear whether the expectation that cutoff dates will be set further back than they were in June 2008 refers to all countries of chargeability in EB3.”

checking June bulletin the cut-off date was 01Mar2006. Having said that hopefully, the cut-off date will not be set back at all and if they are not a date prior to your priority date. You are in a better situation than mine as I am quite close, Dec, 05, yours is July,04 .
Not much to do other than watch out for the Oct, 08 bulletin.

    Hope this helps…
